Holiday Gift Suggestions With The "O-factor"
Oprah takes a more practical approach for 2008.
Oprah has been on and off lately as far as mentioningUGGs in her "favorite things" holiday segment. It used to be she would mention them every year, but this year she is understandably quiet on the purchased gift-giving front. With the economy in a down year Oprah decided to take a more recession-friendly approach to this years "favorite things". We applaud her for bringing meaning back to the holidays. Instead of featuring lavish and expensive gift ideas she emphasized creative ways to spend less on the holidays and give gifts from the heart instead of the wallet. Still, as fans of UGGs we miss seeing what new styles she has taken a shine to. Oh well, there is always next year!
Oprah to include UGGs in her favorite things this year?(2007)
Once again Oprah Winfrey, after not doing her "favorite things" segment last year, seems to be ready to go again. In case you have been living under a rock the past few years I'll explain what that means. For many years, somtime around the beginning of the Christmas buying season the Oprah show has done a segment called "my favorite things". It suggests items you could buy your friends and loved ones for gifts. All the items mentioned are actually Oprah's favorites for one reason or another and she usually explains why on the show. For as long as this segment has been running Uggsbootssales and slippers have been on that list.
What does this mean for us? Well if you are a fan of UGGs and plan on getting some for christmas, or to give as gifts, you better get while the gettin is good. The "favorite things" segment is a huge part of what has been called in the business world, "the O-factor". The "O" factor is single handedly responsible for taking many businesses from rags to ritches. Because of her huge following anything Oprah mentions on the air, be it books, clothing, food, or even Uggsbootssales explodes with consumer interest. This means we can expect to see a tremendous surge of buying following the show.
Uggsbootssales are already extremely popular and hard to find, but once the "O" factor rush kicks in good luck. Your favorite colors and styles may very well dissapear overnight. Even if not, you can be assured that waiting to get what you want isn't the best idea.
Of course that is assuming that Oprah actually mentions UGG this year. There's no gaurentee that she will, but there is a good chance of it. To find out for sure you'll have to tune in with the rest of us on Tuesday November 20th (2007) and see what she has to say!
Oprah's favorite is... (2007)
Yes, it is confirmed, Oprah has included UGG in her favorite things again this year(2007) and the UGG season is off in full swing. The bigger question now is what style did she show? And the answer is...UGG Classic Crochet. .
Somewhat of a dissapointing choice given the breadth of beautiful new styles available this year. Not only are there more interesting styles, but even the old classics look more stylish than the Crochets. I guess they can be kinda comfy lounge-around-the-house type boots (if you can call them boots) and they still have the plush fleece lining, but I wouldn't wear them in the rain or anything. At least with the tall crochets you can push the upper down like a legwarmer from the 80's or something. It gives you a little bit of fashion flexability.
Still, it would have been nice to see some exposure for some of the more high-fashion boots UGG produced this year. They have a bit higher price point, but their look is much more fashion-savvy than the crochet, and you can wear them outside the house without feeling like you are going shopping in slippers and pajama bottoms. I guess in the end I just feel like deckers told her to push the crochet because they weren't selling very well and they had made so many of them. After all, they are one of the only UGG styles that can be mass produced without killing very many cows or sheep.
